Warranties and Marketing

For sure, warranties and marketing are related.

Give us the name, contact info and date of purchase. It is implied that they are actually saying “we will help you if the product breaks, but also…keep in touch with you related to your product, and maybe other products that are of interest to you.

Give us more money and we will protect your purchase even longer, and also, re-market to you for other future purchased, including extended warranties and supplemental products related to your item.

In addition, we may e-mail you. We may call you (less likely.) In the future, we may text you, (definitely likely) especially if you have said it was okay to do so, or even if not…for those companies who are not actually following the rules.

We will also, potentially sell your information to companies who want our customers.

If we are fun, like Yeti, we will send you a fun gift. Note, it is always the same gift, so if you have multiple items, you will probably be getting the same thing you got before that you may or may not have found useful. Still, at least this was an out of the box way to get you to register the product.

Do more fun things like this I say to the universe and to the product manufacturers who may be reading/listening. It is far better than a repetitive, over-frequented e-mail that inspires you more to unsubscribe than tune in to read more.

Warranties and marketing have benefit, it is just a different benefit depending on which side of the product ownership you are on, and some get more benefit than others.
