On Screen

Everything that we need to know today is on screen. Or is it?

When you go to the store and all they do is look at your digital profile – are they seeing you? They know your membership rewards. They know whether you pay in cash or credit. They know what you buy. But, they don’t know you.

They don’t know what you look like.

They don’t even look at you. You don’t look at them.

No one smiles. (Maybe they do, but probably not.)

We are so concerned about loyalty and building followers, creating value that we forget about the people – the ones who are so important to the everyday events around us.

Who are they?

What do they want?

What do they like?

Why do we do what we do?

They look at you on screen and they ask you to click, push or press a button so that you can leave sooner. Stop. Look. Listen. Learn. That is so much more personal. If only we could remember this; is it so very hard to do?
