Annoying Customers

It is easy to see someone who can’t stand annoying customers. They get so visibly frustrated, short, snippy, obnoxious or indifferent, that it really “isn’t funny”.

They need to put on their poker face, smile, laugh and go with the flow.

Of course, this can backfire, because if these PIA customers really are just plain, all-out, obnoxious and disrespectful or rude – they might come back. Again, and again, and again.

Much to the chagrin of the staff; but it pays the bills…

However, annoying customers with your lack of: support, friendliness, acceptance, smiling and the inability to accept that some people just want it the way the want it, is also a problem. Whether it is on the side, no onions, or even – willing to pay extra for _________ – it is important, maybe even more important, to be friendly to them. These customers KNOW that they are annoying and they over-compensate; they are nice about it, they are polite and very, very patient – they also probably, just maybe, tip more because they know that their special requests take more effort, time and energy.

Tipping is customary, especially if you are annoying, but not if you are annoyed.
