Tell Me The End

In a strange series of circumstances, I found myself saying to my friends, tell me the end of the book.

Yes. Weird I know.

If you don’t know me… well, “this” is me.

I am the person who never wants to know the end. It will ruin the story for me. Books, movies, television mini-series. If you tell me (or start to tell me) I will cover my ears… la la la. Don’t tell me.

**Spoiler alert** notices are a good caution for me. If you say that, I avoid the review, the preview, and/or the synopsis.

Tell me the entire story. Take your time. Fill in with alllll the details, the good, the bad, the gory, the fun, the fabulous.

I want to hear it all. Enthrall me. Keep me on the edge of my seat. Don’t ruin the surprise.

This time, I still had over an hour and a half to listen and time had run out; no fast forwarding, no speed round. Just listen at normal pace, and it was taking. so. long.

I got to the table and said – okay, tell me what happened. Tell me the end. Then – I could go back and ask for more details and share my theories. (It still surprises me.) Maybe I was all storied out. Maybe I was just tired. Maybe … the story wasn’t keeping my interest (but I had to know.) I hope this isn’t a permanent mindset shift. I usually, never – ever want the story to end.
