It is one thing to think it, but do they need to know the brutal truth?
- Consider your words carefully.
- Just keep it inside.
- Be able to look the other way.
- Share good advice, telling stories and allegories – your own experience.
- Be proactive and helpful.
- Keep it light.
- Be ready to guide, a soft push in the right direction with recommendations of where to look further.
Do they need to know what you have to share or can it just be something they learn on their own? You have the choice. Make a good one. Your experience will not be theirs and they have to live it to learn it. So… just step back and be there to pick up the pieces if needed. That is really the best thing you can do.
