Promises Promises

Brands that encourage loyalty programs are filled with promises. Promises of discounts, early announcements about their promotions and offers, rebates earned on purchases, or even easier ordering and saving personal info for shipping and/or billing.

The other day, I read the POP while hanging out, at the pump, aka gasoline dispenser and saw not one, not 2 but 3 loyalty program advertisements. Which one to choose was my thought? I could have a Speedpass, a UPromise card or the newest… the Plenti card.

What?

I am not sure that their programs are equal. I have no idea the benefits of one verses the other.

How, if I was a Speedpass holder (I am not, I worked for Sunoco for too long and I was just “in the neighborhood” with an empty tank of gas, so, I stopped there – I assure you it is a rarity) would I be able to also use my UPromise account? What is this new Plenti program? It is valid at Rite Aid, Macy’s, Exxon (of course) and more… so, if I go out of my way, to read more about their promises – promises of savings, discounts, rebates and more – will I even be able to pick one over the other? Keep It Simple…Smarties, you. You, marketing people! We don’t have time for all of this. Pick one. Please.
