Consistent or Persistent

What is really the difference (in performance) between being consistent or persistent? Clearly the two words have different meanings, they are not synonyms, but they are similar.

In many ways, they really can be the same thing. The latter allows you to be the former until you have achieved your goals. Doesn’t hitting milestones – and maintaining them – require the other?

A new year, new month, new goal – all shiny and new. Think also about the ones you had on your list last year; how you maintained them diligently until they became a routine. Not always easy, but always tackled and achieved. Accomplished.

Whether it was being consistent or persistent is really your choice; but you can also choose to change the game and your plan going forward. Even if you are no longer one or the other. Sometimes, taking a step back is what you need to see the world, and the work you do in a fresh perspective. New clarity, new ideas and new inspirations. Happy New Year. Again. Time to take on the next big (or many small) things, while you build on the past just a little bit more.
