All of the graduates have accomplished their goal. In some way or another, they have achieved a set of standards established.
Proficient…I think that is an academic word more suitable, but that doesn’t sound quite as wonderful.
Being honored and called out in front of 340 of your peers is quite amazing…those kids should be much more than proficient – right?
I just wonder if we are a demanding enough and clearly understand what it means to be accomplished. At least to me, it means more than “completing assignments” and more than “showing up”. While those things are important, they won’t necessarily translate into outstanding success in the future…in a career or profession. So, as parents, as students and as a society – are we asking for it – and if not, why the heck not?
