Your Dream Job

You may be out there in the world in your dream job… or, you may be doing something that you really, really (really) like – but, if you could do anything you wanted and still be paid the same – would it be the same?

The reality is, and most adults know this, a job isn’t a dream.

It is work.

While we may like it, we probably don’t have the option to be not “working a job” – even if we have created and are running our own company.

We may have invented a product, but selling the product isn’t our dream. The inventing was the dream. Keep inventing.

We may have hundreds, even thousands of people we have helped, but going to the workplace takes time, plus traffic and expenses, like parking and tolls – those things, they were not part of the dream. The helping was the dream. Keep helping.

We may have given up our dream (or put it on hold for a while, which turned into a long, long time) to be there for our family, whether it is a spouse, child, parent or sibling. The family was the dream. Keep being there for them.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea.

The reality is that few people are independently wealthy and able to do their dream…100 percent of the time. Work takes up a certain amount of the time no matter what.

The important thing to realize is that even if you are not in, or doing, or working your dream job you are still able to dream and that is just as critical. Don’t stop dreaming. When you do, you stop being human and that is something we can never truly replace.
