Traditions and How they Start

I am not sure about your personal traditions and how they start, but, I think traveling with good friends is one to begin much earlier in your life.

I am sure that many do…and maybe I have thought that they were a bit, well, odd.

I love my family and travel with them whenever I can. Add in schedules of work, school and other holiday obligations with extended family – well, it doesn’t leave much time for getaways with friends.

Start.

Start early and just go someplace easy, casual, relaxed and if possible, a place you have never been before.

Go and do things that you wouldn’t do with your family.

  • Sleep in.
  • Take stops along the way.
  • Feel confident enough to say…”hey, pull over here, I need to get a photo.” (And yes, I said need…)
  • Eat out.
  • Stay in…
  • Drink wine — and then a little bit more.
  • Don’t worry about who needs help packing.
  • Go with the flow.
  • De-stress.
  • Make new memories.

Then, do it again.

I am definitely thinking of traditions and how they start…and I think they start with one very dedicated, devoted and dear friend – who makes you get a little out of your comfort zone. Which, let’s face it, we all need in our life.
