Personal Attention

Everyone loves and appreciates personal attention. It starts out with the tiniest of humans.

Babies are the ultimate in loving personal attention…then as toddlers, you lose some – maybe you have a sibling join the family or maybe your parents just are too tired.

Then. It happens.

Kindergarten.

Boom!

You lose more and more as you join a room of 20+ other 5 and 6 year olds.

He or she who cries the loudest without being uber annoying gets attention.

By the time you are 25, you better have learned how to get your point across; asking for what you need and want. You have to stand up for yourself. You have to ask. Nicely.

Yes, you often have to pay for the attention you want to receive.

I have missed out on a lot this month… not because of a lack of anything except time. I am used to asking and getting what I want. I am also willing to pay, but this month I took on too much, giving up too much.

I am talking about Pilates and the personal training I have learned to depend upon – 2 to 3 times a week. Not once though, until today, for this entire month of August. Big mistake. Mine all, mine.

I need someone to call me. Ask me when I am scheduling next. I need a push. I need the routine. I depend on it.

I don’t think I am the only one. No, I know that I am not the only one.

I know that I need the personal attention of someone who is compensated, yet wants me to be healthier, stronger, more able to do what I want to do. July was a great month, the best average ever…in terms of the number of classes per week. I was on a roll. But, I took a step back the past month; now, I am reinvigorated and ready for the fall. It only works when you keep making a point to get what you want – even if that means taking time for yourself.
