The mantra goes like this: “Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”
No matter what you have going on in your work, your life or the world around you – it applies.
- Write down the idea you had for your blog, project or marketing pitch – today, right now – before you forget it when it matters tomorrow.
- Pack your lunch (from leftovers) tonight and then, tomorrow you won’t cheat, buying foods that are bad for you from the drive-thru, vending machine or cafeteria.
- Clean the dishes tonight, or tomorrow, they will be cold, wet and dirty; no one wants to deal with that before their first cup of coffee.
- Select your clothes for the big day tomorrow, tonight – you won’t find yourself on the bus, train or stuck in traffic wearing mismatched socks and that shirt that has the itchy tag – the one that will bother you all day.
No one can predict the snow that will (or will not) fall – clearly the meteorology industry struggles – otherwise we would not get early dismissals when not needed, or traffic delays when no one expected the roads to be quite that icy.
Anything can happen tomorrow that you were not planning for today.
People can clearly choose not to do everything each and every day – I mean, you can’t do everything – there is always more to do. But, there are probably a number of things that you should probably decide fit into the category that you can never put off until tomorrow.
