Move Over Apples

When toddlers first try apples, they love them. Delicious. Then, they get their first taste of candy, or cake and they are pretty sure to say (by a show of hands swiping) “move over apples – give me that candy!”

We recently had a great harvest. We went apple picking on a cool, crisp fall day. At least 10 or 11 years we have been going to the farm, maybe longer, and I wouldn’t do it any other way. They are so much better and so readily available – plus they stay crisp and yummy for so long.

The Jonagold were delicious… The Mutso, were even better. Red delicious, the kid’s favorite as youngsters, but then, they asked where to find the Granny Smiths!  So proud that day and then, we come to the end of the month.

Today, it was just like they were toddlers again, but different, as we had to move over apples to get a solid look at the Halloween Candy Haul from last night. I know the lighting on these pictures don’t do either of these sweet treats justice, but you get the idea of who is in charge – at least for a couple days – then, I know that they will actually go back to the fruit…which the kids prefer and would rather eat…until something more tempting comes along. Like an apple pie.
