I am guessing that most people today start the Lenten season with good intentions to give up on something that they will really miss.
- Chocolate
- Caffeine
- Potato Chips
- Sugar
- Cake
- Ice Cream
- Candy
Do you see a theme here?
No, this is not what I give up…I routinely succumb to any and all of those things in my diet. Besides, who could give up caffeine, anyway?
But, in all seriousness…
While it is really hard to stop eating those things, I do believe that the best of good intentions would be to improve oneself, perhaps by being more patient, or kind. Maybe helping others and of course sharing love, honesty and charity more freely…at least more than you do any other time of the year. Then, after 40 days of doing this, it might become a habit instead of something that you can free yourself up to start eating all over again. Think of it as the Christian New Year resolution that you actually keep.
