Sometimes, you have to give it all you’ve got to be competitive. Being open, late on a Saturday night, isn’t easy. Especially when you’re a bakery.
This place we like in the town up the road is open early and late. Not only are they competing head to head with the local grocery market for baked goods, they make everything better than those stores’ bakery departments – yes, all of them.
- Real butter.
- Real cream.
- Real dark chocolate and home made ganache.
- Parve for milk allergic kids and Kosher, too.
- Real sugar.
They make their own Philadelphia Butter cake – with a recipe so well known that the wedding cake baker for our wedding offered us a free cake for a copy – if we could get it, which we couldn’t. (So, we paid for our wedding cake.)
It’s so hard these days to offer one product line and only one product line. But, when you are the best you give it all you’ve got, and… When you do, people recognize that you for it. They reward you with their loyalty – which is admittedly easier when you’re open 7 days a week and late on Saturday and Sunday.
