Girls Love Women

Aha, it’s so very true, don’t you think – that girls love women, too. In our lives it’s our sisters and our girlfriends and sometimes our wives. I definitely love the women in my life. My sisters (after my mom) were there first and last with girlfriends in between. They are the ones who make us laugh, allow us to tell stories and make them up so that we can dream. They also challenge us to be happier, to be nicer, to be better moms, sisters, daughters, friends and co-workers – and above all – to love deeply.

As we close in on the most romantic holiday, I wanted to echo the sentiment initiated by Amy Poehler’s creative holiday Galentine’s Day. I am not a regular watcher of the show Parks and Recreation, but I think that it is both fun and funny that this was conceived in comedy; when in real life we should celebrate the women in our life – whom we loveso much more often.

There are many times when I think back of the things that I have done, or others have done to me, that did NOT show the love of women. It’s shameful and makes me sad about how mean girls can be… but, luckily, we grow out of it. At least, I have hope that we all do someday…and spend the rest of our lives sharing wonderful stories, fears, dreams, hopes, secrets, hugs, laughter and showing how very much girls love women in their lives.

I celebrate you today, the girls and the women we love…the girl crushes, the gal pals, the sister-in-laws, friends and the sisters our parents never gave us – but that we want to have in our lives.  Happy Valentine’s Day to you.
