Someone can win the debate but still be wrong.

Ever experience that?

Just because the argument can be won, with hard facts, a compelling argument and prior precedence, does not mean that moral and societal acceptance is on the winning side.

So, pick the side you want to be on carefully. Learn as much as you can. Present the facts. Argue the points. Make your statements. Win the debate.

On the flip side, the person who will argue to win the the debate but still be wrong – may do so, and chose that option because they wanted to try. Or, perhaps because fundamentally they have a fundamental disagreement – even if only on this one issue.
