Set in your ways? Young and impressionable? Open minded? Any of these still allow for a change in perspective.
If we are unwilling, unable or uncompromising – we can’t grow.
If we are too willing, able or compromising – we lose ourselves.
I like the flexibility of being able to change my mind. I believe that everyone, not just women, have the prerogative to do just that. I have supported that “ideal” for years – even told a co-worker, a superior, a person who became my director/manager – that very same thing. It was a long time ago and I still believe this at least…
I am happy to change something if they say “You know what? I changed my mind.” Just be honest with others and with yourself.
Sometimes, it is hard, because you have to say that you no longer believe or support something that you used to wholeheartedly support.
Taking away your vote, your confidence and your funds may be even MORE difficult, but a change in perspective should – and does – allow you to make a new decision, support a new organization and your new ideals. Keep growing. Believe what you will. Don’t be afraid to change your mind. It’s ok. You will have their respect. Then, you will earn their support, too (even though you should have their support of “you”, no matter what.)
