When you find fun new vocabulary words, they sometimes stick with you longer than you thought…
You may have heard the color of the year from Pantone is “Cloud Dancer”. This has gotten quite a bit of attention – both in jest and in admiration. Perhaps more of the former, unless you are in the industry and have looked forward to this year after year.
Admittedly, I definitely like the inspiration behind the naming even if their predictions and why they choose the names don’t always come true. (To be fair, few could have predicted what happened to their 2020 choice of “Classic Blue” but we depended on “resilience” to get us through.)
Of course, the internet has had some fun with their fancy words that essentially mean “white”. The memes and the jokes have certainly made us laugh and kept the news in the headlines. Without that however, those color names don’t just bring just clever words, but also new vocabulary. Words like detritus, as in “burned to charcoal bits”, which I can’t stop saying and is most definitely the opposite of this coming year’s featured color. Go ahead, you can use either of them and know that you are looking deeper than the Classic 16 count Crayola crayon box.
