Looks Familiar

The building looks familiar, but it is different enough that it isn't quite recognizable.

Parts of it seem new. Even though it is definitely an older structure. There is no historic registry placard on the exterior, by the door; yet, you can just tell.

The stone, the window styles, the framing, even the cadence you have to manage as you walk up the steps up and into the building. Solid and Colonial. Post Revolutionary, maybe? Yes. Probably, but not by much.

For the current occupants, it has been renovated and it IS new to them. The styling, furniture layout, paint colors, even some of the walls have been moved around just enough to create a whole vibe that attempts to be modern.

Sure, it is unique and on their brand, but somehow there is dissonance.

Not every space can totally fit the use. Form following function (and all that jazz), is truly a thing of the past - except for the die hards. The ones who are dedicated to the craft. The ones who will take the time, spend the money and focus or energy to make it right.

The real problem is...200 to 250 or so years ago, (even more recently than that to be honest) no one would have thought that life would be the way it is today. Computers, electrical gadgets, automation of communications "Hello! Welcome, we are happy you are here..." Take a seat and someone will be with you shortly.

For those who have been there before, in another life or another business, it is a vague sense. We have more than a feeling that we may have crossed this threshold before. It certainly looks familiar even though if you were dropped right into the space - in one room or one area - on its own, this place would be utterly unrecognizable.
