If you can, teach them now.

Don’t just do it for them. This is more than just fishing for themselves, it is confidence building, life affirming and reassuring them that they are capable. All of which, although perhaps a slight bit redundant, is worth saying.

I am not always quoting parables, or old bible verses, but the sentiment has been around for ages and maybe even eons. It is worth repeating.

It is also advice worth following. These ancient ideals still apply.

My point of the urgency, however, is that if you don’t take the time to teach them now, you may miss the opportunity. People get set in their ways, they create habits and some are harder to break than others. Life skills, however, must be learned “someday”, and today seems like as good a day as any.
