What happens when you know something won’t work…But, you say okay (anyway)?
Even if it is because:
- They’re the expert and you’re paying for their opinion.
- They “may” know something you don’t.
- You don’t want to appear negative.
- It is something your child suggested.
You should still find a way to share the doubt.
Perhaps phrasing it in a way that shows what you know but you’re open to discuss other options.
“In my experience this won’t work but perhaps we can work through why you want to try it, and some other options we haven’t tried yet.” (I wish you the very best with this and a reminder to stand firm. Don’t cave in because of the circumstances…better to stop it ahead of a failure that you know will happen.)
