Rainy Days and Mondays

Most of us know the lyrics and the 1970s song; some on let’s sing it now…”rainy days and Mondays always get me down”…

Lately, it just seems that the world around us is in a funk. Few people are happy about the pending election. There are strong opinions. People are using strong words, interrupting others, leading the witness, I mean the candidate… and bringing up topics best left far and away from the dinner table.

No one wants to spend any money or invest in a business. People are afraid, uncertain or just waiting to see what happens.

Men vs. women. Young vs. old. Democrats vs. Democrats and Republicans vs. Republicans. Everyone vs. the Independents…

November 8th really can’t come soon enough…Luckily November 9th is a Wednesday, so if you are crying it isn’t because of this song. But, then we can all just wait for January and an Inauguration that will either please us or make us weep.

It was a national holiday for the country today, kids in our neck of the woods had school, but they will be able to sleep in on Wednesday in due respect for those who observe and fast on Yom Kippur.

Since the debates are now over, it is only the incessant commercials in our market, the swing state, swing county in which we live, to pound us with opinions, facts, and “I approve this message” statements. I’m done. I’ve flip flopped, I won’t vote for _______ statements coming out of my mouth more than once and then, rethinking it again, and again. Oh, what to do?

The debate was annoying and while it wasn’t one of those rainy days and Mondays kind of day that made us cry, it was something – or was it two things?
