Prize or Bragging Rights

So, when it comes to your own personal or professional nature. Do you want the prize or bragging rights?

I could lead you to an answer, sharing some real life examples, but ideally you should think about this. There is probably something on your mind that can truly give you insights about winning and what makes it feel the best.

Is it something you were not good at before?

Is it a skill you are able to do better than someone older or younger than you?

Is it proof that you’re better (or the best)?

Is it the thrill and the adrenalin of the accomplishment?

Is it the medal, plaque or trophy to display behind you – seen on all video conferencing calls?

Is it the repeated win, year over year, that keeps you striving to improve?

There is one that is better and more rewarding to you. Depending on whether you choose the prize or bragging rights may make you think about the next time you really want to win. Decide what is at stake and how to go about getting to the goal. Knowing your why is often the very most important part of the story.
