Not Quite Summer

Even though Memorial Day is right around the corner, it is not quite summer – we have to wait until the hydrangeas bloom…

I know that isn’t what is holding us back, but that is what I will say instead.

This year, even the flowers seem to be unsure what’s going on. They are still hoping the summer will be somewhat normal. Kids playing outside, laughter, picnics, neighbors chatting over the fence…or, maybe going to the beach and seeing the pink and blue petals framing entryways, freshly painted white porches.

Like the CSA that has pushed back our first pick up of the season, I think these beautiful summer-time flowers are giving us more time. It is the first holiday of the season, but it is not quite summer yet. We will wait. We have no choice, or, do we?
