New Vocabulary

There are times when new vocabulary doesn’t involve new words. Just new levels of extremity.

Such as:

  • catastrophic
  • large
  • a-level
  • numerous
  • cautionary

in addition to the use of all caps.

I am not making light of this, but media (and marketing) sure has a way of getting in the middle of clear communication sometimes. We just try to outdo the others in the new vocabulary used to explain an emergency situation. Let’s try to be focused and stop the blow-hard phrases. We will understand, and we will take cover.
