Keeping Score

In business, as in life, we spend a lot of time keeping score. It is something we must do, over and over again. Measuring ourselves, against ourselves…to make sure that we are improving.

  • Clients pitched.
  • Clients signed.
  • Meetings scheduled.
  • Meetings held.
  • Meetings canceled…open slots refilled. (Oh, isn’t that wonderful? That should count for bonus points.)
  • Revenue last year.
  • Revenue this year.

We spend hours, days, months, measuring our performance and keeping score and making sure that we are growing, adding to our revenues, to our portfolios and making a difference – achieving our goals. Which means, we need to keep making new goals in order to keep improving year over year over year. Or, at the very least – enough to win the game.
