Tearing down statues may make people feel better. It may even be the right thing to do. No matter what happens, the past history won’t change.

People, today, must be the change they want to see happen.

So many years ago, and even yesterday, horrible things happened.

We know they happened, we have read about them, we have listened to the stories, and maybe we have seen what took place.

It isn’t acceptable but, that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, or that we can erase the fact that awful things were done to people who didn’t deserve to be treated that way.

What we need to do is make sure that we are the ones to adapt, learn, grow…history won’t change. We will.
