Done Something Right

One of the most poignant songs I can remember from The Sound of Music has the line “somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must have done something right…”

It kind of makes me tear up just thinking about it.

The love, the belief and the trust, that Maria was making the right choice – then, being rewarded for loving those von Trapp kids; it is inspiring.

Today, I think there were some moments of that inner reflection.

  • Sharing love is the right thing.
  • Making sacrifices can be the correct choice.
  • Putting others before yourself is good.

Certainly, there has to be balance. A return. A filling of the well; otherwise, it won’t be able to provide the much needed water to sustain life in the future.

Moms and Dads out there, both sets of mine included, you have all definititively done something right. Whether it was in your youth, childhood or early adulthood I am not sure; but, it was throughout your lives as parents, that I know for sure. We can only hope to fulfill the destiny and give back to you for the rest of our lives.
