Close Your Eyes

Okay, well you can’t actually close your eyes until you read this but when you’re done maybe you can think back and remember.

Think back to when you were happy.

Think way, way back – as far as you need to go.

Where were you? What were you doing? How old were you? How long ago was it?

Were you…

  • Running in the grass under the sprinkler?
  • Reading a book under a tree?
  • Sitting in a lecture hall?
  • Playing with friends?
  • Eating ice cream sitting on the curb?
  • Walking hand-in-hand with a friend?
  • Sitting on the couch with your parents watching TV?
  • Swinging, idly in the hammock with your kids?
  • Giving (and getting) a hug from someone you love?
  • Lingering in the bay window, enjoying a second cup of coffee on a weekend morning?

Okay, I’m not going to give you any other ideas you have to do this for yourself.

What were you doing that made you happy? Now, close your eyes and remember so you can do it again. Then, make sure you reach out and help teach someone how important it is to do things that make them happy. (I can pretty much assure you, it will also make you happy.)
