The recipe for a great parade was followed in our home town today. It was 100 years that the American Legion was formed and they celebrated bigger and better than ever with this year’s Memorial Day parade.

It’s been a year in the making and it took a lot of key components that are not always easy to pull together, all at the same time.

• Terrific weather.
• Red, white and blue on display.
• A marching band or two.
• Cute kids.
• Friendly dogs.
• Classic cars.
• Volunteers. Lots of volunteers.
• And finally, a very good reason.

Of course it is easy to make it happen when you have people who love our country and dedicate their lives to keeping it free. Even, making the ultimate sacrifice and dying to protect it.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone…I hope that your holiday was a good one, even if you didn’t have a great parade…but I hope you did.
