As you may have been following, I am now a fan – or at least a willing spectator – of Formula 1. So here I am at the airport waiting for a delayed flight and thinking I may have time to watch the race. Spoiler alert … I got to see the entire Miami Grand Prix.
Excited as I was, the woman next to me was even more thrilled when I asked the waitress if we could swap 2 of the 4 televisions (which were all showing the same sporting event) to the race. She said sure – but then, they just handed me the remote.
(If they had said no can do, I might have requested to move my table to the other side of the restaurant.)
What seemed like hours later, I was able to get the refresh rate down and choose the channel before the wrong one was selected.
(In case you were wondering, it is not usually a good idea to give me the remote.)
An hour later, me, texting my family – all of them not just the two who started us down this rabbit hole – with the spoiler alert on who won. I totally forgot that the race can be watched on streaming if you have the right access from your college – in this case, an all access pass to every ESPN channel you would ever want to have. I guess the real surprise will be when they move off campus and have to pay for this stuff on their own. Until then, lights out and away we go…
