When you blog, every day can be a publish date – or a release date – you just have to commit to it and then, do it.
If you write a book, there is a lot more planning and support needed (even if you self-publish).
Sure, there are a lot of things that have to happen either way:
- Craft your idea
- Take notes
- Re-write (and re-write some more)
- Think of a title
- Citing facts (as appropriate)
- Editing
- Sharing the idea with someone
and then,
- All the other stuff to get to a print, e-book or audio edition
Editorial review, cover design, marketing, printing, distribution planning and then, the go live date when it is available in stores or able to be dropped off by Amazon to the customer’s home.
These last two can be one in the same – a publish date that is the same as the release date and the actual day when people can start reading what you wrote. Pick the right date for the right reasons, rationale and get the ratings you seek. Even then, it might not work out the way you had hoped. So, do it all for the right reasons and then, there will be no disappointment at all.
