10 Years to Celebrate

So ironically enough, I started writing my blog when I was down the shore a decade ago, and now I have 10 years to celebrate. Plus we were just down the shore.

It doesn’t seem that long ago but here we are around 3650 posts with a few extras for leap years…and the ones written sporadically prior. However, even though life (and marketing) has changed in the last decade, much remains the same.

Technology has advanced, but not too much is different in the blogging world.

I am still able to create each daily post the same way; via laptop or mobile. I have been able to keep it going – logging in from home, the road (for my day job) or remote even overseas – every single day for the last 10 years.

The beach has not evolved much at all, and still gives me time to think.

My first (regular) post was inspired by being on vacation, at the shore, with lots of activities to spur creativity. Now, I keep track of ideas, sometimes seemingly mundane daily interactions or musings to continue it.

Life is fair game. Anything about being a parent, living each day in a modern world with brands and marketing all around us.

As I thought about today’s post I have to admit I looked back and one reality is still the same.

I continue to lament the end of summer. It always arrives way too soon – not the actual seasonal change – but the transition back to school. Even with older kids (adults) it is still a thing. I miss the flexible days – when everybody is in and out of the house – between May and August.

This is the time of year when kids tend to stress out a bit as we transition into “fall”.

  • What are we going to wear?
  • When I meet new people, will we get along?
  • Will I enjoy what I am doing?

Somehow, these things are the same for adults. We can all relate. Whether it is the empathy for our kids, or meeting a new client, taking on a new project, attending a convention…the list goes on.

Also, we have priorities, something to learn and we definitely have homework after it’s over. For me, on top of making this back to fall season a smooth transition, I have 10 years to celebrate if all goes as planned, another decade ahead. Stay tuned and thanks so much for reading.
