Say: “Yes, I will” and mean it. If you don’t, then be honest.
It is totally okay.
You do not have to agree to do everything, or to jump on a task immediately. The most important things are not always the ones that are the loudest; but they often get the most attention.
- Are you around the day after tomorrow?
- Do you plan to attend?
- Can you help me/us?
- Interested and able to volunteer for this event?
- Would you help me write this?
- Give me a second?
Go ahead and agree if it is the right thing for you to do.
Your “yes, I will” should be loud, confident and firm… but, if it is a maybe. Then deferring would be better. You can always change your mind, but not if you agree and commit to doing something that is important to the other person/people.
