The Undoing

After a long holiday season, the undoing of it all can be both refreshing and depressing at the same time.

Putting away the decorations and dismantling the Christmas tree, carefully replacing each treasured ornament is a daunting task. It is often more tedious and tiresome than the set up. Just knowing that all the preparation and planning is done and the celebrations have ended can be both sad and a relief to people.

It’s never the same experience because of the new items purchased or given; perhaps sharing precious items and passing them on from elders to the next generation.

It’s always changing.

Lingering as long as you can is my recommendation…just don’t take it too far or you’ll feel overwhelmed as winter settles in and reminds you it’s time for a long nap.

Curl up with your book, a good movie and then after you’ve set your mind to it, get started on the undoing. You’ll feel better after – the house will feel lighter and brighter even as we wait for more hours of sunshine each day.
