You know how that flag, the one that flies overhead, on the front porch…wherever you see it, truly is a sight to behold.
- Red, white and blue, the stars and stripes.
- Rippling in the strong wind.
- Fluttering in the slightest breeze.
Or, maybe you see the small ones, held by tots at the side of the road during a parade. Honoring the veterans who still walk to show their love of our country, God and the ones they left behind.
I just can’t imagine what they think as they do that…Fighting elsewhere is surreal, so I am told. I wouldn’t know. Then again, nor should anyone have to know that feeling…or have those memories.
It is actually kind of a relief to see mainly elder veterans – at first thought, because we haven’t had a war in so long. But – that isn’t altogether true. We all know those who are younger, and who have fought.
Wouldn’t it just be a wonderful world if we could actually let them all fade out – leaving behind just the memories of them – and their service to the people.
But.
That would require humans to get along and stop the senseless bickering that spurs egos and causes a fight on homelands around the world.
- Think first.
- Let go of the disagreement.
- Do the right thing.
It truly would be a better life if no one ever had to honorably hold, straighten and hand a loved one that flag. The one now folded in a crisp, strong triangle as a final memory and proof of their dedication to Americans living in this free land.
