Take 2 Minutes

Who ever thought that something would just take 2 minutes?

Isn’t that the trope. The time mom will tell you it will be until she can pay full attention to you.

Maybe she was telling you to brush your teeth for that long. Or, only two more stories, then time for bed. You can have two cookies.

Perhaps it was just something that came from another activity, that would last that long – or should.

The instructions to cook the perfect fried egg on a hot skillet. (I am actually not sure if that is long enough.)

Or, a childhood challenge on how long someone could hold their breath, or the clock to beat in completing a full lap in an Olympic sized pool.

It won’t (really) just take 2 minutes to wrap up what you need to do before you can pay attention, but we all say it, or motion it. Then, we take as long as we need. The question really is – how long will the other person wait before they take matters into their own hands – make a decision and do what they want to do anyway.
