Let’s go, yell a little bit louder for the home team. We can do it. Make them hear us and know that we are cheering them on.
Show them we care. Show we believe in them.
Even from the couch at home, or the tables around the sports bar.
Right?
We do this for the footballers. We shout for the Olympiads when we watch them every other year. We whoop and holler for the kids on the field at the weekend, club team soccer game.
Do (should) we do it for the every day, humans who do their very best and need to hear reinforcement. They are going to get better, they need a little inspiration and support.
Sound it out (they don’t actually follow that practice anymore do they?)
Raise your hand, speak up – ask for what you want to do – be your own advocate.
Ask them, “what do you think?” and really wait for their answer. Then, explore their answer, rationale and perspective.
Bring them into the conversation and involve them so they can understand how the evaluation goes. How it works, what can be planned out and where we can improve.
Go. Be there. Be even louder for the home team. Your kids, spouse and friends are the ones who really (really) need to hear from you. Over and over again.
