Door Closed

A door closed metaphor…

When you drop off you youngest child at college it’s the end of one phase and the beginning of another.

For both of you.

Then – not to put too fine a point on it – you return to the garage (which isn’t normally open on Sundays just for special events) and they’ve locked it up. Gate down. Entry door locked.

Hmm.

It kind of hits you…even harder than you had thought. Yes, that door closed. For now – at least – until fall break.

PS No. We didn’t stay. We knew another way in, and you just have to drive right up to the edge of the line and the door will open…just like life. Walk. Run. Jump. Forge ahead.
