Sometimes, you just can’t do the math…in your head.

It is complicated. There are percentages. Large, odd numbers with multiplication or division just don’t make it easy, or simple to figure out. Then, there is rounding, which can be wrong in either direction. And, by wrong, I mean grossly wrong – depending on the importance of the accuracy.

Or, perhaps, you just don’t WANT to do the math. In which case, it is easier to let someone else do it, or use a handy, dandy calculator which we all (pretty much all of us at this point) carry with us wherever we go. Most people do not need to do the math learned in geometry class, or trig or maybe even calculus – let alone have to do mental math – but, if you’re into it you will volunteer any and every time.
