The Latest Form

When you have to do research, you should carefully consider the latest form (and formatting) that will make the most impact.

Do even more research… it is highly recommended. It will stand out, or even be considered vs. something that would be ignored or bypassed simply for the way it looks.

Sure. Looks and appearance are not everything, but we do eat with our eyes – otherwise, food television would not exist or, would not be so freakin’ popular. Direct mail, magazines and fashion catalogues would not be delivered to homes every day.

Tonight, I was able to easily find the book with a graphical representation explaining why you don’t want to start a land war in Asia – nor use Napoleon’s march on Moscow as a “best practice”. Because, for sure it wasn’t and they all (mostly) died.

If you look it up, you will quite easily find that 422,000 soldiers started the march in June 1812. Less than half made it to the city and only 10,000 returned. Epic fail.

If you just told someone that was the case and they were someone who knows history (or movie references) they would agree. It was a bad idea. End of debate.

Now you can probably get some other, better reasons… but you will go forward, and you will use the latest form, the best practices and the design advice of those who have gone before. When you can improve upon the past, you can surely succeed. Ignore it at your peril.
