It is winter…officially now. Not because of the date. Not because of the cold. But, because it is SNOWING!
Snow for Christmas is a rare bird in the area we live. Not as rare as parts farther south or on the west coast, but just because we have a colder zone, doesn’t mean much. Typically, it isn’t “really cold” until January and February, in the middle of the winter season.
Just past when any retail store will have the gear needed. Shovels, ice melt, hats, mittens and scarves. In fact, you are probably too late even now. Worth checking though; do not procrastinate any further. If there is a chance, your odds are better now. You will then be prepared.
It kind of is a shock. The apps are unreliable and to be honest, the weather for the last few years has been mild. Warm even. Plus, we have been inside, “zooming” away and not even aware of the temperatures. “Oh, is it winter? I didn’t notice the change of the season!”
What a wonderful surprise to have on the last Friday before Christmas! This year, today especially, it made us appreciate the beauty of it. The flurries and the crisp air.
Enjoy it all.
Officially now, we can celebrate the holiday. Maybe there will be enough left for Christmas Day – just enough to make it a bit more festive, bright and sparkly. We can dream and see what comes tomorrow.
