When you need just a part of the whole replacement part is that a waste, or proactive design?

Most replacement parts are available because they wear out, break or can be broken. Luckily the manufacturer knows this, and makes them available.

That said… when they pre assemble a group of parts, is that because they doubt the resiliency of the entire group of pieces, or the replacement skills of the user?

If it’s just a part we need, a simple gasket, handle, spring, or lid then maybe those should also be available. If we break that too, then we will suffer the consequences.
