If you think that small is big, you might be thinking of small businesses. You would be right along with the owners of those businesses, who don’t think it is in any way small, let alone insignificant or immeasurable. Small business ownership and entrepreneurship is the backbone of this country and I hope that it continues to be for a long, long time.

This month, after 5 years of outwardly supporting business owners particularly in November, American Express will encourage millions to support local, small business owners again. This event started in 2010 and has continued to grow and get bigger with their guidance. They  provide information, advice, signage and promotion for people to buy from local shops on Saturday, November 26th, 2016 – otherwise known as Small Business Saturday (in case you haven’t heard of it.)

Facebook promotions will abound.

Business owners will Tweet and tag the event #ShopSmall.

If business owners planned ahead, they ordered their sign kit weeks ago. If they didn’t, they can still design and download the designs to print them out for use in their stores, restaurants, cafes and boutiques.

American Express will also increase your card points if you register your card…so you can win, too.

The reality is that small is big and getting bigger every day. People have found that entrepreneurship gives them self-gratification, the satisfaction of doing a job well, freedom to be their own boss and to support their local community. I love small. I love shopping. I love brands. Please go out and support the local community, not just on Small Business Saturday, but every day. I hope that you love it as much as I do, too.
