Making Room

Being either ahead or behind the rest of the world, we are just tonight, making room for our Christmas Tree.

For us, this is way (way) ahead of schedule, but after receiving my Christmas present 3 weeks early I guess I am already in the spirit.

We usually wait until the weekend of Christmas – just about 2 to 3 days prior to the big holiday – to set up and decorate our tree. After Christmas, we keep it up for the Epiphany, or Little Christmas on January 6th (precisely 12 days after Christmas…) This year, I am not sure it will last that long, but we shall see.

In my mind, I don’t have to go through too much effort to accommodate my gift. The memories are there already in my mind, making me smile as I recall the evening, singing, laughing and dancing. Dinner was (as always for Talulas’) delectable. The concert was a dream I never thought would come true. The ability to look back on last night will be with me forever…

In our house, however, we will no doubt be, hopefully, disposing of broken toys, and out-grown apparel, shoes and books, making room for the newest of the new. Of course, I mean the gifts that will be opened on Christmas morn. In spite of the cold winter weather, from that perspective – and the religious one – it is a rebirth with all things new and shiny to help us celebrate. Looking forward to making this season bright, warm and new, indeed.
