Is it really necessary to have 5 kinds of sugar in any one product?
I doubt it very much.
In fact, any more than 1 or 2 is excessive.
- Dextrose, fructose, sucrose…all the oses
- Table sugar
- Confectioners sugar
- Brown sugar
- Pearl sugar
- Turbinado sugar
- Cane sugar
- Molasses and honey (not actual sugars, but sweeteners none-the-less)
and
- Corn syrup (never needed to be honest – high-fructose or otherwise)
I know that they are limited in making some of the sweet treats we all love, without using 5 kinds of sugar, but maybe they should try a few options of making them without. If that doesn’t work, maybe a little time, going sugar-free won’t hurt us.

PS I love my gift, a bag of Brach’s but it is full of far more sugar than even I need.
